Last night was the sneak preview premiere of Fox's newest show GLEE from writer Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck). Most people are probably talking about the anti-climatic, almost-finale of American Idol, but I think you might have your primetime priorities mixed up.
For just a pilot episode, I was rather impressed. Sure, there could have been a few tweaks here and there (Miley Cyrus' boyfriend, srsly?), but I think if they play it cool and keep throwing in some relevant music choices like the Amy Winehouse and Kanye numbers, it could become the Gossip Girl of Fox, thriving just from its soundtrack alone. Considering the fact their cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" is already at No. 6, 5, 2 1 on the iTunes chart, I think we can expect something impressive from this show and rightfully so. Let's just hope everyone (my sister) doesn't make it their ringtone like they did after that episode of Laguna Beach.
You can watch the episode all summer on the official site until it begins in the fall. I don't know what it is, but choirs are just so damn infectious. I mean, that is why we all love Sister Act 2, isn't it?...
